Budget Friendly Fall Fashion Tips
It’s almost time to dig deep into the back of your closet and dust off your fall wardrobe. It’s the time when you get to rediscover the sweaters, jackets, and pants from last year that you swore you would never wear again, but upon second glance aren’t too bad. I am always sad to see the summer go by because I love wearing my summer dresses. However the fall beckons some of my favorite fashion accessories including tall black boots and long trench coats….all which can take a heavy toll on my fashion budget!
With fall right around the corner it’s best to set aside a portion of your budget now to update your fall wardrobe. Beginning to budget for your fall wardrobe in August gives you the opportunity to save enough that come late September you are able to supplement your existing wardrobe. Remember it is always best to put your savings, no matter how short term it may seem, into an interest bearing account such as a Money Market account.
Without budgeting properly it is easy to watch your expenses soar as all the new fall fashions are unveiled. According to Viviana Rueda, owner of Vivendi Fashionista, http://vivendifashionsita.wordpress.com, there are some great strategies to ensure both a fashionable and budget friendly fall wardrobe:
1. Give yourself a Wardrobe Audit, or hire a stylist to help you with it. Audits will assist you in finding existing wardrobe staples that need to be updated (you can change an entire outfit by changing the hemline, changing the buttons, removing sleeves etc.).
2. Alterations are your friend and a great way to save money from buying new outfits while maintaining wardrobe staples that you’ve already invested in.
3. Also, a good wardrobe audit will yield anywhere from 10 – 20 new outfits that you never thought about so rather than spend on new clothes, find out what you have first. If you haven’t budgeted for a full revamping of your Fall wardrobe, wardrobe audits are a powerful way to leverage your closet!
